The Science Behind EECP® Flow Therapy
The Clinically Proven Non-Invasive Treatment for Chronic Heart Conditions.
Simulating Passive Exercise with Counterpulsation Therapy
Patients will lie on a comfortable bed with blood pressure-like cuffs placed around the lower extremities.
Then, using a cardiac monitor, a computer regulates the inflation and deflation of the cuffs in rhythm with the heart.
Everyone knows that exercise is good for the heart and cardiovascular circulation, but for many patients, normal exercise can be too tiring, too painful, or cause limiting symptoms.
That’s in part what makes Flow Therapy such a successful treatment for heart conditions. It imitates the benefits of exercise, leading to improved circulation, increased cardiac capacity, reduced shortness of breath, and increased stamina while the patient is lying in a serene environment.
Sequential Inflation
When the heart is resting during diastole, the cuffs squeeze – delivering a major supply of additional oxygen to the heart’s blood vessels.
Simultaneous Deflation
When the heart squeezes during systole, the cuffs release – reducing afterload and decreasing cardiac demand.
EECP Flow Therapy Isn’t Just for Angina
The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association have advocated the identification and treatment of patients with anginal equivalents:
- Fatigue
- Dyspnea on Exertion
- Shoulder/Arm/Jaw Pain
- Epigastric Discomfort
- Palpitations
