Common questions

Before you call, here’s what most people ask.

  • Is the consultation really free?

Yes. There is no charge for the phone consultation, the screening review, or the care plan. You only pay if you choose to start treatment, and most patients have it covered by Medicare or commercial insurance.

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is required to schedule the call. If you’d like to start treatment, we’ll work directly with your cardiologist or primary care doctor to obtain the prescription and coordinate care.

  • Will I be pressured into treatment?

No. Our coordinators are nurses and trained patient navigators, not salespeople. If EECP isn’t right for your case, we’ll say so. If you’re not ready, we won’t follow up unless you ask us to.

  • How long does the consultation take?

Plan on about 15 minutes for the initial phone call. If you decide to move forward, the clinical screening (records review) usually wraps up within 48 hours, and a written plan follows shortly after.

  • What information should I have ready?

Nothing required, but it helps to know your main symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue), any cardiac history (angina, heart failure, stents, bypass), and the name of your cardiologist if you have one.

  • Does Medicare cover EECP?

Yes. Medicare has covered EECP for chronic angina since 1999, and most commercial and Medicare Advantage plans follow suit. We’ll verify your specific coverage during the screening before you commit to anything.
